Pharmaceuticals is one of 25 companies from across the state ranked in the Top
25 for South Carolina's Fastest-Growing Companies 2003, co-sponsored by
Elliott Davis, LLC, the largest CPA firm headquartered in South Carolina, and
the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce. South Carolina's Fastest-Growing
Companies 2003 recognizes an exceptional and diverse assembly of businesses
from across the state among its Top 25 finalists plus 50 additional honorees.
This year's winners represent a cross section of business categories, including
advertising, construction, financial institutions, healthcare, hospitality,
manufacturing, professional services, IT and telecommunications, among others.
IRIX Pharmaceuticals received
the South
Carolina's Fastest-Growing Companies Top 25 Achievement Award at a special
reception and luncheon on Friday, November 14 in Charleston, South Carolina. The
invitation-only event coincided with publication of the South Carolina's
Fastest-Growing Companies list, as part of a major feature in the annual
South Carolina Business Magazine. Accepting the award on behalf of IRIX
Pharmaceuticals was J. Guy Steenrod, CEO, and Dr. Panos Kalaritis, COO.
This year's companies represented each region of South Carolina fairly
evenly, from Upstate to Midlands to Coastal region, with Greenville, Lexington,
Florence, Charleston, Piedmont, Anderson and Harleyville all represented in the
Top 10. Overall, 32 cities and 16 counties from the Coastal, Midlands, and
Upstate regions were represented, with Greenville, Charleston, Columbia and
Florence representing the greatest number of entrants. The Top 25 include
companies with revenues primarily clustered in the $3 to $50 million range
(92%), with the remaining top 25 having revenues in excess of $100 million. The
largest finalist boasted revenues approaching $1 billion.
