Dr. Yiannikouros joined IRIX Pharmaceuticals in 1997 as Director of Process Research and Development. He was promoted to Chief Scientific Officer in 2000. During his tenure with IRIX, Dr. Yiannikouros has maintained responsibility for all scientific activities from discovery support to process technology.

Prior to joining IRIX, Dr. Yiannikouros served in a number of key positions at Hoffman La Roche over a period of 9 years in the Pharmaceutical Discovery and Process Research areas.

Dr. Yiannikouros received his BS degree in Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics at the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki in Greece in 1979, and his Ph.D. degree in Chemistry in 1988 at the City University of New York. In addition, he gained extensive post-doctoral experience working with Professor H. L. Rosano, at City College, and K.C. Nicolaou at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Yiannikouros is the holder of numerous patents and publications in Chemistry. He also has extensive teaching experience.
